Firing Up Innovation in Oklahoma: Highlights from the FH&W Mini Expo

In September, the FH&W family hit the road for a Mini Expo in Tulsa, Oklahoma, co-hosted with our friends at ONE Gas. The event brought together a dynamic mix of foodservice professionals — including chefs, Child Nutrition Directors, servicers, restaurant suppliers, consultants, and leaders from casinos, schools, hospitals, restaurants, and multi-unit c-stores — all eager to explore the latest innovations in commercial kitchen solutions.

A Day of Learning, Collaboration, and (Really Great) Food

The day wouldn’t have been complete without a delicious lineup from the test kitchen. Guests enjoyed peanut butter jalapeño bacon cheeseburgers, meatball sliders, hot dogs, taquitos, and brownies with chocolate chip cookies baked right in. Great food always sets the stage for great conversation — and this Expo was no exception.

Hoodless Cooking and Smarter Solutions

One of the biggest takeaways from the day was how to expand menu offerings without the need for traditional ventilation. Brands like XpressChef, CresCor, and Antunes showcased innovative equipment that allows operators to cook safely, efficiently, and flexibly — all without hoods.

Precision, Safety, and Quality at Every Station

We also explored why the right knife can make all the difference, thanks to Victorinox, and learned how a sharper knife is a safer knife. When it comes to cutting boards, Epicurean impressed everyone with their durable, cellulose-based boards that combine superior food safety, easy cleaning, and sleek design.

Equipment Built for Efficiency

The Wood Stone team demonstrated the power of a vertical rotisserie, showing how chefs can cook ribs and veggies with incredible flavor and consistency. Nearby, TableCraft introduced attendees to their latest coffee service items and stainless-steel water pitchers, both combining style and function for any foodservice setting.

Innovation Meets Customization

Thermo-Kool wowed guests with their walk-in configurator tool — a digital solution that allows customers to input their available space and instantly generate a 3D drawing and quote. The attention to detail didn’t stop there: Multiteria showcased how serving counters can be high-quality and highly customizable without breaking the bank, and Continental reminded us that when it comes to custom refrigeration, they’ll always find a way to make “standard” work for you (we love a good play on boxes!).

Building Connections That Matter

Beyond the demos and equipment, what truly made this Mini Expo special was the opportunity to connect with so many dedicated professionals who share our passion for the foodservice industry. Events like this remind us why we love what we do — bringing people, products, and possibilities together to move foodservice forward.

A huge thank-you to ONE Gas for partnering with us and hosting at their Tulsa facility. We’re grateful for everyone who joined us for a day full of innovation, collaboration, and (of course) great food.

And we’re not slowing down anytime soon!

Our next big stop is the FH&W Commercial Kitchen Equipment Supply Expo on December 4, where even more manufacturers, chefs, and industry leaders will come together to explore what’s new, what’s next, and what’s driving foodservice innovation.

If the Oklahoma Mini Expo was any indication — you won’t want to miss this one.
